Anyone had any experience of these ?

I had a minor prang last week - some dozy BINT pulled out of her parking space and drove straight into me, denting and scuffing up the side of my car. She accepted liability and its all sorted now, my car's been repaired via her insurance, and all is well. When I reported the incident to my insurers they asked if I was injured, if I felt any pain in my neck, shoulders etc etc, which I said no (it was a very low-speed collision). They phoned and checked again a couple of days later (a "duty of care" call) to see if I had developed any neck pain or whatever, which I haven't. Now I've had some 3rd party solicitors firm on my mobile trying to talk me into making a personal injury claim. I've said I'm FINE, there's no residual pain, no twinges, no injury, but what gives ? After I'd sent them packing I realised I should've asked how they knew about the incident. Did my or her insurers inform them ? What gives ?

Am I going to get PLAGUED with this crapola until they talk me into thinking I've got a stiff neck and should try and screw a few grand out of it ?

Could just be coincidental. I got a call on my work mobile last week, (which number I give to nobody except work colleagues), saying they were ringing about a car accident I had been in that wasn't my fault and that I have a realistic claim. I don't even drive, let alone had an accident.

On my journey to work, I look forward to following an ambulance as it clears a path for my motorbike.

It would have to be a MASSIVE coincidence, as I've literally never had one of those calls in my life (maybe I've been lucky). I can only think that either my insurers or hers have sold on my mobile number, as I've had numerous calls two-ing and fro-ing with them this last week to sort this out. Or maybe Enterprise, who sorted me a hire car while mine was being repaired.

Thats proper shithouse if thats the case.

Your insurers have probably given your details to the legal company on the pretence of acting in your interests. Well done for not trying to cash in, and rest assured that the legal company will have first dibs on any payout

Good to hear an honest approach, there are far too many people who suffer a low impact crash and immediately see it as free money by saying they are suffering pain.

They wouldn’t be able to do that any more. (GDPR).

But your neck is hurting a bit isn't it ? Just a little.

Imagine what it felt like before accident.

Yeah - I had about 5 calls after a car clipped my car in a car park. I wasn't even in the car at the time but the lady did the decent thing and left me her contact details. Relatively minor damage but small claim made and all sorted inside of about 2 weeks.

Then over about a month I received 5 calls practically telling me I have to have suffered an injury and to make a claim. I said No as I wasn't even in the car at the time but one of the callers actually advised me to claim for whiplash! The only whiplash I suffered was answering so many bloody insurance 'claim' calls.

I know the reason they do it as they make money from it, but to me you have to be pretty low to ever consider making a claim when no injury ever occured (especially even if you weren't in the car).

After a month the calls seemed to stop.

My wife and myself have both just finished completing power of attorney for both of our parents.
Similarly we started getting cold calls from Bedford.
Maybe coincidental, but then my sister and father in law started getting calls from Bedford.
All were personal injury claim specialists???

I heard a while ago that insurance companies actively work with these claims companies.

The claims companies pay insurance companies for details of accidents. The fees the claims companies pay is higher than the cost of claims to insurance companies in the bigger picture.

May be utter crap. Maybe not. Just what I heard.

Had one of these calls, they advised me that I had 3k waiting for me. I told them to just send me a cheque to save time. They then wanted to know about the accident I had been involved in. I just went along answering the questions with, I can not remember as the accident must of given me memory loss, after 5 minutes they hung up, not had another phone call again .

Normally when I get these calls I give a bit of heavy breathing and panting noises over the phone ask them what they are wearing, by this time they have hung up. Another one for the fake Microsoft calls about my PC not working properly, when they ask me to turn it on, I agree with them that there is a problem as my PC said hit any key to start, that's the key that's missing.

Easy 10 - from our experience you will be plagued for years until you change your phone number. One of the insurers sold your details to all and sundry somewhere down the line. Going with one of these companies and making a claim won’t stop the opposition ringing you.
