Just been reading an article where the following were put forward as the 10 essential cover versions of Beatles classics.

Esther Phillips - And I Love Him
Ray Charles - Yesterday
Wilson Pickett - Hey Jude
Al Green - I want To Hold Your Hand
Jimi Hendrix Experience - Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Joe Cocker - With A Little Help From My Friends
Booker T & The MGs - Medley: Sun King/Mean Mr Mustard/Polythene Pam.She Cam In Through The bathroom Window/I Want You (she's So Heavy)
Stevie Wonder - We Can Work It Out
Siouxsie & The Banshees - Dear Prudence
Oasis - I Am The Walrus

So any that should have been on the list or quirky versions.

Personally surprised the following were omitted

I've got a live bootleg where Billy Bragg joins the Redskins on stage (introduced by Chris Dean as Neil Kinnock's publicity officer) to do a storming 'Back In The USSR'. I can't find it on the internet.
