As we all know, if you think someone is a potential attacker, you grab them by the neck as that is usually where there throw the acid/fire the weapon from.

Hero.

Tory minister attacks Greenpeace protester

I’m bemused by this story, he claims his reaction was instinctive and caused by the current climate of fear around MPs being attacked. What a load of bull, no one else reacted like that. It’s because he didn’t feel threatened that he took on a woman like that. Shameful. Got to go...but he won’t, because MPs are untouchable. Look at the leading candidate for PM, how much more does someone have to feck up to end their career? Instead, they get the most powerful job in the land.

When you think about it I don't think this is quite the defence of his actions he obviously hoped it would be

Genuinely worrying how so many people seem to have no problem with a senior politician assaulting an unarmed woman.
This.

How the fukc can anyone think this is ok?

I'm sure you would think the same if this was a female relative of yours.

The man is a prick of the highest order just like those defending him.

LOONEY BIN
A bloke gets up in front of a load of MP's etc at the conference and hands May a P45 and not one of them intervenes
A big burly bloke gets up in front of a load of MP's to disrupt McVey's campaign launch and not one of them intervenes
A girl walks past an MP in an unthreatening manner at a slap up dinner to protest and he assaults her before marching her out with his hands around her neck

Something seems not consistent here

Bloody Worthing!
Looking at the expression on the guy's face indicated to me that this was not a man making a judgment on the basis of a risk assessment but someone who was really pi&&ed off that his evening was being ruined by a bunch of women. It was intuitive in that losing your temper is intuitive.
Peter Bottomley (West Worthing MP) was defending him and said that he would have done exactly the same thing in the circumstances. I've seen Peter Bottomley: my money would have been on the lady.

I'm finding myself, weirdly, agreeing with every post in this thread.

He is a moron for getting involved, it's not his job to deal with intruders and she was walking past him anyway. How much threat does a woman in a dress really pose? I'd hazard a guess that he wouldn't have got involved of it was a bloke bigger than him. He's a prick and a bully

But then I think: If I ran into a private event, for instance a conference on climate change, making loads of noise and being disruptive and was subsequently twatted by Caroling Lucas and marched out of the room I bet nobody would give a shit and most would applaud her for it.

The reactions here are definitely amplified because she is a woman and he's a Tory MP.

I’ve just walked through the busy French market in Shoreham. I’ve never had to knock so many women out. One little old lady (terrorist) waved a stick with some garlic prawns on it in my direction. I currently have her in a headlock and am marching her back to Newhaven. Natural instincts just kicked in, she could have had my eye out.

So how did he know she was unarmed?

This woman was invading a private dinner with the intention of disruption at the very least. Assault is a bit OTT..he got hold of her and escorted her out of the room. Well done him !!

Why does the fact that he`s a "senior politician" have anything to do with it ? It seems most like to politicise everything these days !!

It`s not his job...but surely someone had to do it ? Or do you thing they should all have been allowed to stay and disrupt whole evening ??

It’s an incident tailor made for the right wing to cream their knickers over.

The players:
Gammon faces Tory MP
Female climate change protestor

The Setting
A slap up meal where they are being told how much money they have all made last year.

The story:
Gammon faced old **** assaults harmless female daring to speak up about an issue that affects everyone.

It’s got everything a right wing loon could ever wish for.

Bring on the feathers!

It’s not his job? It’s nobody’s ****ing job to assault people. What he should have done is sit tight and wait for police or security to arrive.
I mean these are simple rules. And where would we be without rules?

That’s right. France.

Do you think "excuse me madam this is a private event will you leave now" would have worked ? Or do you think she and her friends should have been allowed to stay ?
