Please listen to the Ruston Kelly album, 'Dying star'. It really is excellent. Parts of it sound like outtakes from 'For Everyman'. He's not in the same league lyrically as Jackson. Who is? However, he's outstanding and is only 30, unlike most of my heroes, who are either in their 70's or are dead. Ruston Kelly is married to Kacey Musgraves, who by all accounts is pretty talented as well.

I remember chatting to someone on here about 15 years ago about JB. Can't remember who it was sadly.

I thought Dawes were more JB influenced but they seem to have been a one album wonder. Jackson is now well passed his sell by date imo. Voice has gone and he no longer seems to be writing great songs, but what a back catalogue.

In his heyday, one of my favourites with plenty of albums I still listen to.

Not that impressed by Ruston Kelly either, sorry. Could be any one of a thousand singers droning on about heartbreak etc

I do owe you for pointing me in the direction of Gene Clark’s No Other though Binney
