Several reasons. Generally I don't look to see who has started a thread. If, when I open a thread, I see it was started by someone I have on ignore, it can be interesting and sometimes amusing to read the replies. Furthermore, I have had one or two people on ignore who, it turns out, are actually interesting and fair minded posters who annoyed me at some point, probably for little or no good reason, probably when I was in a bad mood or on my high horse (I have a high horse, in case you hadn't noticed). I don't like blocking interesting posters and if I ignored all threads by folk on ignore I'd never be able to correct a mistake. This is a rather detailed reply, but I know you like detail
