Future advice, get a Mac....

I had two Windows machines for two years, and had virus issues about once every 3 months. No smut, these were purely business machines - but they seemed to be magnets for crappy viruses.

I then hoofed them into a skip and replaced them with iMacs, and for the last 10 years I've not had one single issue with maybe 10-12 machines I bought as the business grew. Granted I don't use them for smut-fests (well, not often anyway.. :lolol:) and they've never skipped a single beat. I assume my employees may have used them for smut whilst I wasn't looking, but they never got a virus.

Apple may be hated but talk about reliable, dependable, and actually worth something when you come to sell them. I just got £250 for a 2008 iMac. Try that with a Windoze....

EDIT : I am not accusing BG of perusing smut btw. Sorry if it looks that way. :drink:

In 1998 my employer told us all 'they no longer support mac' which is code for 'don't use your slush fund or a grant to buy one, and we won't help if there are problems'. My employer started sending emails with attachments that opened only on a PC. So I had to buy PC.

MacDraw and Cricket graph, programmes fom the 80s, still make better histograms that can be tailored than the shit bollocks that is available in the MS package..

I use Bullguard and have done for the last 4 years. The internet security package is very thorough and with Malware Bites gives me all I need and I've had no problems for tonks.
However there are loads to plck from and most do a reasonable job.

Kaspersky has a company in the US it is not banned from there. Their holding company is based in the UK so certainly no problem here. Their labs are where all the viruses are sent for analysis. I have been using it for the last three years. Its pretty simple to use which is a plus for some and has a strong firewall.

Norton is horrendous if you ever want to uninstall it ive heard its better now but wont be using that anytime soon. Last time I got a virus that actually did any damage is well over 10 years ago and even then I got lucky.

Not banned for the general public to use but not allowed by government departments.
Agree regarding Norton. I once tried to remove it from my brothers PC and it took an age!

In 2015, the senior e-threat analyst at Bitdefender, Bogdan Botezatu, was quoted as saying "Mac OS X software has more high-risk vulnerabilities than all versions of Windows put together." It is certainly not the only year it has been more vulnerable. There are less viruses for the Apple platforms but this doesnt mean it isnt vulnerable just that there are not the same number of people targetting them ...yet.

So a good antivirus is essential if you are using linux, OS X or Windows.

I have no idea how you could get so many virus' on a business machine... actually I do if you have no idea what your staff are up to and you scrimped on your antivirus.

Yes the gov departments are still pissed off at them exposing their attack on Iran with the Stuxnet worm developed by US agencies and Israel and this is the counter to that accusing Kaspersky of hacking Israel and the Gov ban. It all boils down to who would you trust more, the US government (hello wikileaks they certainly dont have your privacy at the top of their list), Israel or Kaspersky.

Are you sure? That virus is synonymous with Asian teen stuff.. seen it countless times and people always deny it first...?
