What's the difference between darts and Archery? The answer is very little and on that basis it is a sport. You just need to put aside the fact that you can be obese, unfit, drinking and the fact that it's normally played in the pub. It's hand eye coordination.

It's amazing how many times Not the Nine O'Clock News sketches can be reeled out to fit something. And quite amazing how many of them stick in our minds for so long. Sign of top comedy.

Spot on! Any form of negotiations - " my wife's recipe for ratatouille and the swivel chair to take home at weekends "

Any confusion about tech - Do want woofers and tweeters, a bag on your head......"

Any discussion on dealing with football violence - " cut their goolies off ".

I played darts with my 7 yo son in our village local last weekend. I went first, to show him how it works, and scored 26. He hit treble 17 with his first dart FFS.

At that point I told him he was probably a bit too young to be playing darts and we should think about getting home.

I hope you did proper training for this momentous sporting occasion. Five mile runs for two weeks, some weights, proper diet. Dangerous to do sport without preparation.

So could bar skittles be a 'sport'? Could those arcade 'grab a teddy' machines become a 'sport'?

Darts is a game. That's why they say 'fancy a game of darts?' !!

"Fancy a game of football?" Or "Fancy a sport of football?" hmmmm ... not that I think darts is a sport.

I still find the sketches funny (including the darts classic) and incredibly, it’ll be 40 years this year since NTNOCN was first aired. God I feel old.....

Try standing 30 metres away from the dartboard, outside on a windy day.

A fun game to watch.

Incidentally, I stopped over in Christchurch not long ago. Had a few jars in the Ship, not a bad little boozer.

You should have let me know, I’d have happily met up for a few jars. :)

The Ship’s ok as you say, but if you’re down this way again, the Tripp is better.

If it's not, then neither is snooker, which definitely is.

Shooting? Shot putt? Discus? Baseball?

I shall bear that in mind. Me and the missus got a bit bored there tbh, there didn't seem to be much about. The Quays were disappointing and it was honking down, so we hopped on a bus down to the MUFF instead for some scoff and a film.

Snooker - no.
Shooting - no, unless in that skiing thing...
Shot putt - yes (as part of the sport of Athletics)
Baseball - yes
Discus - yes we are discussing it.

Swimming apart, if you don't have to wear specialised footwear, then it is NOT a sport. Its a game.

This is fact.
