[Albion] The other candidates

Juan Albion

Chicken Sniffer 3rd Class
We know, I think, that Potter was first choice, but we were said to have a shortlist of about three (which is only sensible). Who were the others, do you think?

I was just reading an article in the Guardian when I came upon this poorly written sentence: "While the candidacies of Steve Clarke, appointed on Monday to manage Scotland, and Rui Faria were also scrutinised Ashworth, in his time at the Football Association, where he had gained his Uefa Pro Licence, had tracked Potter’s progress and was encouraged by the impact he made in the second tier."

Is the author, Dominic Fifield, saying that Clarke and Faria were on that shortlist? I read it that way.
