TB has stated today that we are only 5 years in into the Academy and the step up tp PL is huge. He does go onto say that in the future if a player is good enough they could potentially step up..

Lets not kid ourselves here, EVERY PL team has the responsibility to strengthen the squad. We did not do this in January and we avoided relegation by the skin of our teeth. GP is being very pragmatic and careful with what he is saying. Obviously he cannot come into a new job and say everything is crap and he has no chance with the players at his disposal. However, like anyone going for any promotion in any job, he would have done his homework and be well clued up on the question how can we improve? Obviously training harder, using some different tactics and promoting a few gems from youth will help....BUT it is also abundantly obvious we dont score enough goals, we are severely lacking pace across the Pitch and the squad needs 3-5 quality additions. (these I would imagine will be Hungry young British talent, very much in Bournemouth model)

Dan Ashworth is going to be the Key here as he has been brought in to develop this approach and this will be his FIRST window. The whole universe knows how poor our recruitment was, how low the wages were and what will need to be done to give us a fighting chance...

Should be a very interesting summer.

I think that one of the reasons Graham Potter has been brought in is because he appears to be a motivational specialist and able to work with an existing team, on a budget.
That's just one of his skills. I doubt Tony sold the vision of our club as 'we're not going to spend much, you're our man'.

I believe that there are likely to be one or two "budget" purchases but on the whole it'll be last season's newly (Potter) motivated squad, with a few tweaks.
I expect us to make two or three non budget purchases.

We have three or four players with pace. That’s an entirely different thing.

IMO we need a striker, a quick box to box CM and a decent right back. All very expensive in today’s world. Suspect we’ll only get James if someone bigger doesn’t come along and we haven’t blown the budget on the above. As others have said hopefully one or two of the under 23s will break through.

Percy and Jocko fit that criteria, although that depends on if they fit the governments.
I'd imagine the squad could do with a bigger centre forward, but the expense there would be if he's a straight forward replacement for Murray or as a 'plan B' striker from the bench.

Naturally, as you say, Bruno needs replacing plus anyone else who happens to leave.

All of that would suggest you believe Mr Hughton did the very best with all the players at his disposal.

We have plenty of pace to work with on the wings, with Yves and Andone. Hopefully he brings in a couple of his best from Swansea (although James looks like a hamstring injury waiting to happen) and gets the best out of what we already have/due to arrive.

I posted that last night, which is how I know you missed the most critical part of the piece.

Argentina's Alexis MacAllister has a brother...

...called Kevin.

Everybody knows that. He's going to be leaving him Home Alone.

This article, which may have been posted already too, states that the passport issues still aren't resolved https://bolavip.com/conmebol/Alexis...s-que-hay-de-jugar-en-Boca-20190520-0045.html

Here he denies the suggestion that there's been any contact with Boca re. a 6 month loan and says he will see what the options are in June and make a decision https://www.tycsports.com/nota/copa...lister-nadie-de-boca-se-comunico-conmigo.html

I get the feeling that Montoya is going to fit in with GP's style perfectly. Especially if we go with 3 at the back.

I've seen a lot of suggestion that Solly could be used as a RWB, but i disagree. From what i have seen Potter likes to get the ball in wide areas and play low crosses/passes across the face of goal - Solly is far too left footed for that, but perfect for Montoya IMO.

I keep hearing how bad our recruitment was but to sign 2 future stars in Bissouma and Bernardo and a very useful player in Montoya is not a bad return from a window obviously up front we have not had the success anticipated with Locadia, Andone and Jahanbakhsh but I am very confident that one of them will be a revelation next season, we also have some exciting prospects coming through including The Romanian and Argie-Scot. 3 or 4 astute additions and we could definitely progress next year.

I’m hoping our speed of play will increase and our decision making improves markedly, if he can improve both areas we should notice a vast improvement.

I hope so too. Those areas declined dramatically as the season wore on - lack of confidence perhaps? I’m of the view that we have got a squad of good players but they haven’t performed at their best consistently enough. With Graham Potter in charge maybe that situation will improve dramatically.

I suspect Potter will be more likely to bring through a few of the U23's which I for one would like to see. We can't carry on spunking millions on untried foreign players when we have numerous untried players of our own. Hopefully 2 or 3 of the U23's will get their chance this season together with a couple of additional quality signings in the summer to supplement the squad.

Doesn't sound like we are going to do much business. Makes sense the appointment as he has proven can work on a budget so needed no history of bringing in big players.

Was hoping we may have 5 or 6 come in and spend a bit but certainly looks like we wont do much at all.

I'd anticipate maybe 20m and look for value for money.

Potter has a big job on his hands. I'm not convinced we have the players to suddenly go expansive but it looks like that is his task.

Good news for AJ and Locadia I guess now everyone's been told the slate is wiped clean

I would like to see not too much change in the squad personnel, and a lot of change in their performances, I don't think we have bought as badly as many seem to think. I am hoping for a Poyet like transformation to the team, without the massive ego and talk of how wonderful Leeds Utd are.
There will of course need to be a new right back, but Murray is the biggest question mark for me as to whether Potter sees him fitting in, purely on energy level. I am sure two or three players that have been given a hard time on these pages are going to shine next season.

Pretty much this really, I certainly don't think there will be anything like the squad transformation the OP seems to indicate.. As you say l don't thing the majority of our recent signings are bad players, it's more a case of how they have been used within our system. It will certainly be interesting to see what the new management set up will get out of them.

Whatever we think now is pure conjecture, let's wait and see what new signings, (and departures), the summer brings.

One thing is for certain. We are going to be fitter, sharper and stronger next season. If any players can't handle this they will be shipped out. GP and his crew will be analysing every player and how they performed last season. No more hiding.
