In summary;

  • Clarification of hand ball rules in relation to goals (e.g. Llorente in the Champions League)
  • Yellow and Red cards for Managers
  • Subs must leave from the nearest part of the pitch to prevent time-wasting
  • No opposition players in a team's wall for free kicks
  • Teams cannot contest drop balls, ball is simply given back to the team
  • Goalkeepers forced to stay on their lines for penalty kicks

All sound pretty sensible - however I remember a season or so ago, they said that holding of shirts in the box at corners would be clamped down on severely. That last about 2 games.

What are the consequences for any of these not happening?

For instance, if a substituted player wanders away from the nearest point of exit, is it a mandatory booking? If already booked, would it prevent the substitution being made?

If a goalkeeper moves off his line (already an offence surely) is a goal awarded regardless?

Hopefully the common sense there would be a retake if the penalty isn't scored.

Disagree with leaving by the nearest part, can you imagine an opposition player walking around the pitch, say Grealish at Birmingham, disaster waiting to happen. Maybe say 20 secs to leave the field?

Stand by for all players being substituted in the closing stages of the game, finding themselves on the centre spot and still walking slowly to the touchline

Someone needs to do a heatmap of that this time next year.

What happens if an injured player comes to rest near the centre spot, but just 2-3 yards or so the other side from the dugout? Do they have to walk off on the wrong side and then make their way around the pitch? One would hope that, wherever the player is, the ref will indicate where they should walk when leaving the pitch, but it's still going to get a little messy.

Somewhere in the bowels of the FA a lowly minion has just read this post.

Ten seconds to leave the field if tactical...or a minute added on..if he’s limping his teammates can carry him off :moo:

Wish they'd reinstate the rule that Goalkeepers must take goal kicks from the same side of the goal that the ball went out.

That would be a sure fire way of reducing time wasting during games.

The keeper/penalty one isn’t a rule change, it means they will ask refs to focus on it.

Just add 1 minute on for every sub made, add on 2 minutes from 90 mins onwards.

I’d like to see keepers booked for time wasting after one warning, the warning being as soon as they start time wasting. Not just let said keeper get away with it for 70 minutes then book them on 85 minutes. (Watford at home was the worst for that).

Introduce a clock, which stops when the ball goes out of play, and it stops all time-wasting.

Don't understand why this hasn't already been introduced. Takes all responsibility away from the referee.

Maybe difficult to monitor everytime ball goes out. An easy one to put in place would be stop clock when goal scored and restart at ko. Wouldnt matter then how long goal celebrations took.

So they are still insisting that a player who has been fouled has to leave the pitch after treatment thereby giving an advantage to the offending team when the resulting free kick is taken.

Bloody madness.

Ryan would be sent off after 5 minutes lol
