We definitely were, then Gus Poyet came along and then the way we played at this level just bamboozled the opposition. Watching the last season at Withdean was like a game of chess. We were top of the league and teams would come to park the bus, we would pass it side to side then back and side to side again waiting for one of the ill disciplined league one players to get bored and try to get the ball back, they would then leave a space and boom we scored. Then they had to try to attack and we would score another one or two goals. Some of the football we played that season for a league one team was sublime. The only game that didn’t go quite like that was the game when we went up against Dagenham and Redbridge, which was a bonkers game.
