I read on one of the other posts that we have spent £140 million on players transfer fees over the last two seasons. Can anyone break this down to be able to confirm this. If it’s true, we don’t seem to have got very much for our money.

£140m seems a lot.
I guess this is the total cost for all transfers (not just first team) and associated fees (agents fees etc).

On the contrary we’ve got about £330-350m for our money plus parachute payments [if necessary] assuming we were to spend nothing else and go down next season.

Also I think the figure is also closer to £120m.

To compare with rivals, you have to consider their spend over the past four to five years.
On wages as well as fees.

Just go through the squad from Ryan to Dunk to Propper to Andone. It’s got to we worth a bit. Bloom will keep building.

If we sold say Dunk for £55 million plus it’s almost pure profit.

Still seems a lot.

Yeah, but that's the market though isn't it?

How many players make up that figure?
Off the top of my head:
Ryan
Montoya
Balogun
Burn
Bernardo
Propper
Bissouma
Jahanbaksh
IZquierdo
Andone
Locadia
Tau
McAllister (i'm guessing that's his name, Argentinian bloke)

That's 13 first teamers. + any I've missed. I can see that list coming to £110m

Plus a few under 23s and ladies team (are there transfer fees for ladies football).

Then there's agents fees, which may include several new contracts for existing players.
What do agents get out of these deals? must be 10% surely?

I can see it totting up to at least £130m tbf

It's difficult with so many fees 'undisclosed' - it would be good to see actual figures. Balogun though - surely he was a free transfer?

Yeah balogun was free, but I daresay the agent still gets a fee.
in my head i went for:
Ryan/Montoya/Bernardo/Burn =£25m Bissouma/Propper = £15m Jahanbaksh/Izquierdo/Locadia = £45m Andone/Tau/McAllister = £25m

I think the £140m is not too far away. The figure I've heard is £130m but it's close enough.

Izquierdo, Locadia, Bissouma and Jahanbaksh would be c£60m. The others on this list only need to average £7-8m to get to that ballpark figure and I imagine there are others not mentioned yet.

Ryan
Montoya
Balogun
Burn
Bernardo
Propper
Andone
Tau
Mac Allister

The question for me isn't how much we've spent, nor has it been wisely spent (surely few will claim it has) but who directed how it was spent?

It would have been wiser to spend the big amounts on even better defenders given how we played. Absolutely wasted on forwards imo.

Good research!

Nothing jumps out there as likely to be that wide of the mark.

We've bought others. A Scandinavian CB, a Slovak striker (?)...

Yes, you think about the big fees paid for Locadia, Izzy and Jahanbakhsh - but when you take into account all the 'little'(!) ones - £2M here, £8M there! - they all add up.

Did we really pay £14M for Bissouma though? I know it was undisclosed, but I thought at the time it was reported/guessed to be about £7-£8M.

I have just had a look and it was reported in the Mirror the deal could be worth up to 17m so it could be the figure you quoted initially with extra amounts triggered.

There must be some guess work on transfermarkt

We play defensively because the forward players are slow/shit.
Amazes me that people can't see the obvious.
