Why should the club have said that last week? Absolutely no logical reason to have done so. The club were absolutely right to announce the decision, sad as it was, at the termination of the league campaign. Why would the club want to burden themselves with all the media hype and unwanted publicity just before one of the most important games of the season. Not only that but it would have been very embarrassing for Chris Hughton and his coaching staff to be under the spotlight while the team were still in the process of completing the final fixture.
