Buy a jar of glace cherries they are identical to British cherries and delicious, trust me she won't know the difference.
My favourite cherry is the star cherry grown in tropical locations.
But where are all the sultanas?

Judging from last year cherries will be in every lay-by in Kent from about mid June or so onward.

I have informed Mrs Giraffe, this then led on to a rant (by me) about how younger people (she is a bit younger than me) expect everything to be available all the time, and that if we want to save this planet we need to start eating what is available in the correct season rather than blueberries from Morocco or wherever all year round. I then put my blueberries from Morrocco and raspberries from Spain on my cereal and shut up.
