On Radio Sussex this morning Johnny Cantor reported that Chris Hughton is returning to the 'tried and tested' method against Newcastle today. The old guard are expected to start the match, with Bruno, March, and Murray almost certain starters.

What do we think about that?.

Nothing new here. He did that 2 games ago v wolves.

Also if it was tried and tested why did he not stick with tried and tested.

Proof will be in the pudding as they say....if we get a result then who cares what team he picks ...anything else will just be regurgitating the last few weeks of posts

Tried, tested and failed.

The line up at spurs looked better, compact, defensive with pace on the break.

When I saw the line-up at Spurs, I assumed CH was resting players for today (given Wolves performance).

True enough.

In some ways l'm in two minds about how we approcah this game. If we play an attacking line up, with two wingers and pushing men forward in search of a win, it also makes us more likely to concede.

Yes we would all love the three points, but would we be better playing with a more compact shape where we would have more chance of obtaining just the one point? One after all may just be nough to secure survival.

Or perhaps this question deserves it's own thread?

Tried and tested would suggest the good old 4411.

Would not be surprised to see something much more like a genuine 442 today.......

A demonstration, if ever there was one, of exactly how far we've come in the last two years.

If I was in charge I would have 2 different teams in mind depending on the Fulham v Cardiff match but I doubt CH will go down that route

I understand it, it’s the Hughton way, in fact with him in charge, it’s the only way.

Exactly.

It won't be down to how well Newcastle play - that will be considered irrelevant.
It won't be down to how well our players play on the day.
It won't be down to a bit of luck here and there.
It won't be down to referee decisions, oh no.

Our result today will be 100% down to Hughton - the team he picks and how negative he tells them to be. Nothing else. And once we know the result, we can praise or castigate, as appropriate.
