UEFA announce that Montenegro have to play one game behind closed doors for racist behaviour towards England players, and pay a €20,000 fine for letting off fireworks, and blocked stairways.
In 2012, Nicklas Bentner was fined €80,000 and banned for one international game, for advertising Paddy Power on his underwear.

They really do appear to be serious about stamping out racism in our game now.

When are they going to start docking points, or throwing teams/ countries out of competitions when their supporters and in some cases , their players, display their bigotry.

That will never happen I’m afraid to say LLF. They are a toothless and clawless tiger.
BTW where can you buy Paddy Power pants ?

Playing behind closed doors also penalises the next opponent who cannot have their fans there but have done nothing wrong. I would have thought it better to ban home fans, allow away fans in, the away team gets the gate receipts yet the home team have to pay the costs of opening up the stadium. This should obviously be in addition to the other actions that should be levied, sensible fines (in the millions), bans from competitions etc.

If the authorities are too gutless to ban the team from the next competition, why not make them play all their qualifiers for the next tournament away, with their fans banned from both games. That way their fans are punished, and their income is restricted, and their team and nation feel the pain of disadvantage. It benefits all the other teams in the group equally. And the punishment is protracted.

Rather like the banning of all English league clubs from all European competition for five years because of hooliganism and deaths at a game in the mid 80s*. Except much less draconian and arbitrary.

*Can you seriously imagine that today? No other nation has ever been shafted so hugely. May explain why some folk on here are still convinced the Europeans hate us.
