I also like the Villa Pepe Reiner song, made me laugh at the station before the game. Something about drinking Estrella, eating paella and having a massive forehead

Villa fans were singing their own version of that tedious, me-too, Liverpool-lite Allez Allez bollocks. I gather the intention is to remind lesser clubs of their proud history. I only caught the verse beginning "In 1982...." Couldn't hear the rest of the line without the aid of Brum-translate subtitles.

So what exactly did happen to them in 1982? Did they beat Walsall in the Texaco Cup or something?

I know you're joking - but for the benefit of any confused NIPPERS reading - they won the European Cup, beating Bayern Munich in the final. One thing I never understand, is mocking clubs for being proud of their historic achievements. Ultimately, its what its all about, surely?

TBF if we'd won the European Cup I'd sing about for bloody years as well
