At school in Sussex in the early/mid 70’s, most kids were either Albion or Leeds. It started earlier than that. In the 90’s every other kid in the park or work colleague was a ManU fan.

When I started at HGSB in 1969 every kid had a school bag that was a football bag. Leeds, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea. Not one Brighton. Lots of us went to watch the Albion, but nobody claimed to be a Brighton supporter. We were a small division 3 side. Not proper football, even. It perked up a bit when we were in our later teens, and Clough arrived, but . . . . .

The plastic Liverpool fan is everywhere. I live in the Midlands and recently ran a race night with the option to buy and name your own horse. It was Anfield this, Liverpool that with the coup de grace being 3 horses named after the Chicken Tikka Mo Salah pun. Football training is awash with Liverpool kits (and one solitary knockaert or ryan top)

City may have only bought up 25k for the cup semi but they regularly churned out big crowds in league 1, have a largely local fan base and don't take themselves too seriously. For sure they are funded dubiously and borderline illegally but I'd rather they won than Liverpool. Just imagine the tweets we will be subjected to if they will the bloody thing.

Lucky. When relatives got me to sign up, because my cousin was dying of cancer, for me it comprised boastful mums and people plugging Trump.

Oh yeah. the 90% horror fest is full of that. I was an early adopter back in 2007. I'd never join up from scratch today unless forced in to it.

Every time Liverpool play anyone, the same old names start bitter threads. So weird that LFC have 20 angry middle/aged haters, tucked away in the outpost of Sussex, creating these threads. ManC will clearly win the title, they’re an amazing machine that chalks up WWWWWWWWW’s ... so no one has anything to get angry about.

Woah! Clearly touched a nerve here!

Liverpool your 'other' team, eh? Or your first really?

I'd be a lot happier for Liverpool to win the league if it wasn't for their fans and their seemingly complete inability to STFU about how many times they've won the European cup or similar. They're so much more arrogant than even Man Utd fans are, at least when Utd have been shit they've accepted it whereas Liverpool fans utterly refuse to countenance any other team being better and when they lose it's all a conspiracy.

Man City might not have many fans, but at least that means they don't seem quite as obnoxious.

Anyway, I must have been walking alone because I know only three Liverpool fans, my mate and his kids. They are all scousers. Their second team is BHA (because of me). I love them dearly. I have run across some southerners who claim to supp.....

Let's stop there shall we. If you are Brighton (or Hove) Born and Bread, you cannot be a Liverpool (or ManU) 'supporter'. Anyone who wastes a nonosecond talking to such weasels needs their head examined.

'I support Liverpool because they are the bestist'. FFS

This is a bit like claiming to be a red hot lover because of the quality of porn you've wanked over. Seriously.

This. Who cares how other clubs present themelves to their own supporters? ???

To be honest, folks who have so much loathing for other clubs.....do you actually enjoy the game or is it just about showing how your town is better than their town? Personally I like football, and I like watching it. A few years ago most of us were up to our elbows in MOTD, and balls-deep into the champion's league. Now these clubs have suddenly become our rivals.....

Champions League? Couldn’t give a xxxx, then or now. Bad for the health of most of our domestic clubs.

All this emotional tear dropping accolades from a German person. Real Madrid will command the same respect from Klopp when they come calling, I suspect.

Another reason I never do Facebook. Other than gossipy or boastful Mums and looney Trump supporters, why would intelligent folk look at Facebook?

I use Facebook and never see any of those things. Perhaps choose your friends more wisely?

And I think you left off the worst, most arrogant bit of the whole thing... 'It Means More'.

If you are a proper/true fan, it means as much whoever your team is, in whatever league, or competition you happen to play in.

This shows the arrogant shits for what they are.

Depends on your age. I'm in my mid 40s and Liverpool dominated when I grew up, which meant that any plastic, insecure kid who was too stupid to find their way to the Goldstone "supported" them so they could always back a winner. Now they're finally in with a shout of silverware the same lot are suddenly out of the woodwork turning Facebook in to a shit fest and turning their Sussex born, Sussex raised kids in to a new generation of plastics.

Plus, there are those absolute COCKWOMBLES from the King and Queen.

If City end up winning the league I'll piss myself laughing and then I'll double down if Barca win the Champions League.

Try being from South Yorkshire where there are dozens of teams to support locally before you go glory hunting. I literally laughed my head off in the mid 90's when I moved to Brighton and there was only one local team to consider before dirtying yourself.
