As I got back in the car yesterday evening and switched the radio on, someone had texted in to Radio Sussex to say that some players had been seen coming out of a casino in the early hours during the week. I’ve not seen mention of it anywhere on here, so is it bollox or is there truth in the rumour? If true, then yes, I know they’re allowed a life, but as professional athletes shouldn’t it be all about getting plenty of rest?

Exactly the type of rumour that always kicks off when things are going shite.......may or not be true, but no surprise to hear it. File along with ‘lost the dressing room’, ‘discontent between players’ etc perhaps.

Personally (if these reports are true) I just see it as the players in question being bored with their lives and/or not respecting their manager (or club, essentially).
It could all be shit-stirring by rivals, but if true it just points to a lack of respect and discipline.

If there was a freedom of information option with the club that many of us put a lot of hard earned money into, I would definitely ask the question "how many players have been fined wages recently for arriving at training still a bit hung over ?". My guess: the answer wouldn't be zero.
If they're doing it on a Tuestday night when we're not playing until Saturday then it's not a problem. If they're doing it on a Friday night before a Saturday game then I'll be concerned.
It’s the disconnect with supporters though. Tomorrow we’ll either be down a coal mine or working in a factory, whilst these millionaire losing players will be planning their next Ferrari buy or Knightsbridge night out.
