If scything down a winger from behind whilst making no attempt for the ball makes it a man’s game then Tommy was a real man. Others may have a different view

Yep - his legend is as a hard defender but he also had enough skill to play in midfield at times.
RIP a great defender and player. He scored the vital header in the 77 European Cup Final, nearing the end of 16 years with his boyhood club.

True. In those days players were often scythed down. They didn’t dive because they were hit before they’d even thought about diving. Sounds brutal but it was real, authentic and not trying to con the officials - unlike the cynical, pathetic play acting we see in most matches nowadays.

Did you know that he was charged with benefit fraud as he claimed disability allowance as he couldn't walk after years of footy....he was caught playing football at one of the cup finals in a charitee kick about!
