    Independent Record Store Day

    1 Not allowed!
    It's tomorrow.

The annual homage to the beautiful people running our record stores. And this year is big.

Already - at 11.30am this morning - the queue has started outside Resident Records. I kid you not.

Here's what's in store for us vinyl lovers!

Me, the Frau and Dan The Irishman, who some of you met at the Liverpool game, are meeting tomorrow for breakfast and then to plunder the Berlin shops. Missing the game to see Hot Chip as well.

Gutted to miss this day - laid up with a heavy cold.

Any idea on best place to grab leftovers?

Keen on Lost In Translation OST, The Crow OST, the Bowie albums (obviously) and U2’s Europa EP (assuming it’s from the Zooropa/Pop era, as it appears to be).

Didn't go this year as I thought the choice was one of the worst since 2008

For me, as I suspected, it’s getting very eclectic... too Mojo... too Peel to be appealing to the masses, which is what is should be about... independent record shops, specialising in isolating themselves from the mainstream, whilst championing an event allegedly designed to ensure the growth and survival of a niche market... NEVER going to happen. Did none of these guys see Hi Fidelity FFS.

It’s up it’s own arse a go go... which is where most of the record shops I frequent deserve to disappear.

So, i’m on my hols in the West Country in a record shop this week and I try to engage the owner in a conversation about RSD, if he could have said “listen mate, you look like the kind of bloke who likes Yes and Focus, so just do me a favour and **** off.” He would.

Standard, and they wonder why they’re a dying breed.

I will never support them or it.

Two dice, a pencil and an eraser are all you need to make your journey... page 400 at last. Rest ye weary traveller.

We have a great record shop in Reading (sound machine) been there for years, seem to do it for love of it and not at all up themselves at all, sell quality second hand vinyl at a very reasonable rate, cheaper then I can find on eBay.

I used to spend a lot of time in wax factor when at Brighton college late 80’s early 90’s went in there a few weeks ago and was amazed how expensive they were compared to the place in Reading

The prices have gone up and up, and editions are not that limited. The queen double was £53, you buy 4 or 5 nice original copies of their lps for that. There are very few releases over the years that have kept their value. I think it may have had its day.
Every time I think that Gordon Smith will just raise that ball over Gary Bailey - He never does! If only #006600

I agree, there were a few RSD releases that I was interested but the ridiculous prices put me off.
