I suspect this will go the same way as France trying to get the World to ditch GMT as the international time in favour of their meridian and trying to nause up every standard set by the British Empire (english homogeny being one).

The thing is you KNOW that there are a load of French Politicians that wouldn't find any issues with ditching the international language of commerce and travel for their own parochial argot, as spoken in a few bits of Africa and Quebec...
