Weapons, fireworks and drugs have been found on a coach carrying Paris St-Germain fans to a Women's Champion's League game against Chelsea.

Up to 50 PSG fans were denied entry to the quarter-final tie at Kingsmeadow.

Police were first called to reports of vandalism at the stadium at 08:00 GMT, then later to disorder at Waterloo and Wimbledon stations.

A coach that travelled overnight from Paris was searched and one arrest was made.

In a statement, the Met Police said: "Weapons, including knives and knuckledusters, were recovered along with class A drugs.

"One man from the coach was arrested for possession of class A drugs and the remaining passengers were escorted from the area by police."

The game kicked-off at as scheduled at 19:05.

Reports suggest a door at the stadium had been broken and parts of the ground had daubed with pro-PSG graffiti.

BBC Sports reporter Jacqui Oatley tweeted: "I'm told there were weapons - knuckleduster and knives - plus drugs on board.

"They damaged Chelsea's Kingsmeadow ground this morning before returning later. Banned from PSG men's and youth games but not women's."

Heard this on 5 Live last night. Apparently the PSG fans rocked up at the ground at 9am, damaged it a bit and sprayed some graffiti.

The 5 Live reporter mentioned hearing a police officer asking another officer "what shall I do with this tray of knives?" and was told to put them with the ones already found.

A TRAY of knives.

Palace fans, according to Sussex Police

For some reason, Palace fans were all over this on Twitter saying it was bullshit. The vandalism was just some stickers placed around the outside of the ground. Bit odd that so many of them (anonymous of course) were commenting.

No, no, no - surely this must be fake news? It's English hooligans that ruin the game, isn't it? - they're the ones who were banned from Europe for long periods to eradicate the thug problem. FIFA and UEFA can't be wrong about that, can they?

Nice Italian lads with knives and knuckle dusters - just good blokes out for a few jolly japes, surely - or perhaps they just realised the need to protect themselves from Chelsea Women's thuggish fans.....

Italian?

When we played a PSG 11 in Albufeira in 2011, they were a great set of fans, keeping up the singing all through the game, especially one young girl.

Calm down dear. Too many Brexit conspiracy theories seem to have addled your brain recently. Have a sit down and a cup of tea. Or a pint of wine.

Interesting comments in this article. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47664544

"We express our fullest support to fans of Paris Saint-Germain," PSG said.

"The local authorities have not provided any evidence of wrongdoing, at the least no facts that would justify such a ban to attend the match.

"All of our supporters have been searched, and if any of these searches or facts had been under criminal law, we can imagine that the concerned supporters would not have been able to leave British territory without being worried."

It understood the fans have all returned to France, while PSG regard the incidents as anti-social rather than violent or likened to hooliganism.

Uefa will not be charging PSG for the incident.
