Seems a few of you are VERY anti this nickname.

Care to share your thoughts as to why?

I quite like it

Bugger, some spam reward programme on NSC fecked up me being able to post a poll on this........can a mod mod the post to include one please?

Wasn't there a thread on this recently? ???

As has been discussed ad infinitum, this is a made up term coined by lazy journalist, the likes of whom call Lulu "Lulu, the 'Shout' singer"....:lolol:

So it is very wrong to quite like the name?

I haven’t actually seen a thread on this so apologies if fixtures.

Shouldn't it be the A23 derby?

How far away is the Amex from the M23? Over 20 miles.

I'd have more sympathy for the A23 derby nickname.

Fair comment, I have clear memories of Palace fans hanging over bridges on the way home gloating when we lost up there

No, you carry on, mate. Personally I don't mind it either (even though resident pedants note that it should actually be called the 'A23 turning temporarily into the M23' derby )

I've always referred to it as the Gatwick Gathering. Its about as relevant as the 'M23 Derby' anyway.

It'll soon catch on. You wait.

It's what they deserved.

Done Icy.

I voted yes it is wrong. It makes no sense.

HOWEVER, since it is referred to as that on Sky and on the FIFA video game series my son calls it exactly that. He'll learn eventually.

I remember the slogan over one of the bridges near smellhurst 'turn back or die'. It always made me laugh. It was there in the late 70s or early 80s.

It shouldn't be a derby, there, I've said it. We're 46 miles apart!

Crawley is only 26 miles.

Is Brentford v Watford a derby, no, and that's only 20 miles.

We build this shitty South London club up to be far more than they are.

The only derby we could ever have is Crawley but that is pretty meaningless for obvious reasons - namely that we've only ever played them once in meaningful competition and clearly they are a very small club compared to us.

Palace are our arch rivals, and always will be, and the two teams are reasonably close geographically (by our standards). Their only other rival is Millwall, but who'd pick a fight with them?
