I'm also going out to Vegas for the first time in May for our Wedding anniversary, kids staying at home with the in-laws!
Not sure where we're staying yet, looking at a few (Flamingo, MGM - that kind of price range) for 4 nights. Also looking to do a day tour to the Canyon, so all of this advice you guys are giving is great!

If you stay at flamingo make sure you get an upgraded room.

Been there 3 times, once as a meet up place for spending a week in the Grand Canyon and twice for stag nights. Great place for a celebration as everybody seems in a good mood and determined to enjoy themselves. American excess at its best - you'll have a great time. It seemed to me that the hotels and restaurants are subsidized by the gambling so prices were pretty reasonable - and a lot of stuff is free like just walking up and down the strip and taking in the sights like the fountains at the Bellagio. Saw a programme about it on Discovery and they said some of the slots pay out as much as 98% of what they take - so that's how you can play for a while without losing much. One thing that was disappointing is that a lot of casinos no longer pay out a large win on the slots, say $50, in 200 quarters. It just spits out a ticket which you cash in at the cashiers - but you still get the chink chink soundtrack!

Didn't see any slots at all (except in a couple of retro places) that even accepted coins............you can cash the tickets in at the machines that are dotted all over the casinos. Think the payout rates are typically in the v high 90% range for all slots. Most of the casinos also ply you with as much free drink as you want whilst you're playing them - waitresses walking round taking orders.

When we did our GC trip we had to meet the transport at 6am - it was bizarre walking through the casino to the the pickup point at 6am - would never have known the time. There are no clocks, no windows, and the place was heaving with people playing the machines and tables.

We stayed at the Hilton Elara - I upgraded to a suite for not much extra and it was ridiculous, a bit like that Tyson suite in the Hangover film.

Off to Las Vegas on holiday.

Just wondered if anyone have any tips of things to do.

Any help/suggestions appreciated.

Spent three odd weeks there in November but stayed off Strip so not as hectic!!

100% go to Red Rock Canyon even if just for the scenic loop drive its absolutely amazing!
Cirque du Soleil show is a must.....all of them are good! O is the best imo but also love Love, Ka not so much and not seen the MJ one.
Venetian Poker Room for poker if that your thing!
Venetian Canal Shops just for the decor and poss a gondola ride, Caesars not too bad as well.
Food ridiculous amount of choices so depends what you after, I actually mainly ate off strip but if you want any specific recommendations I can try and help!
Grand Canyon helicopter tour is great.
Shooting range also fun!
If da ganja is your ting a visit to a dispensary is obv a must!

If you are renting a car(must for Red Rock!) drop me a PM and I can give you a 100% gtd way of getting an upgrade to any car u want!! I had 3 convertibles for the price or a Yaris fyi!!

HTH and sorry if some already covered

We go every year for Super Bowl and stay off strip in an Airbnb so cant really help on hotels etc but the recommendations above look all good. Will you be renting a car? Only since there are lots of good restaurants that aren't on the strip, although Uber/Lyft are all really cheap so not a huge deal. For a 'special' meal I really would recommend Black Sheep, it is very very good and not stupidly $$$ either. Think it was perhaps $60 a head for us including a fair whack of red. I personally found Fremont St a bit seedy, but it's probably one you need to do to tick off! If you like your sushi there's an all you can eat called Sushi Way that is unbelievable quality for the price (think may $30 each) and the Egg and I chain is good for a big brunch. We tend to just eat two meals a day when out there. Very jealous of your trip - enjoy! We also do a fair bit of hiking - out in Red Rock and Zion Park, which is a nice way to get out of the city and see some unreal scenery.

Well that depends if you know what you are doing surely? unless it’s rigged to the hilt in Vegas. I’m quite good at a certain casino game quite fancy a go out there one day. Also the other half wants to get married :)

Last time we went was for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and had our vows renewed in one of the chapel's with Elvis officiating. It was great fun, they also live stream the ceremony so everybody at home can log in to watch.

Thank you, probably won’t rent a car, as don’t want the hassle of driving

Silver Sevens is an older strip hotel but reasonable. I liked it. I believe I turned some Americans who aren't my relatives on to the Albion. The sports bet is popular. Okay, the sports bet is popular everywhere in Vegas.

Penn and Teller were superb as previously stated on here, also at the Rio was the Rat Pack Show, not that expensive but great entertainment.

Another tip, that did work for us, is when you check in at your hotel, put $50 in your passport, and say to the person behind the desk, "And that's for you", we got upgraded at Ceasar's Palace.

Do not go there it’s an absolute shit hole. No atmosphere. Not worth it - they used to do one dollar beers but think that’s stopped now. Beers are vile.

If you want cheap gambling go to old Las Vegas Fremont street they all have 5 dollar blackjack. Main strip also does in same places during the week day during the day.

When you get a taxi from airport there are two routes so make sure they take you the cheaper route. Saves 10 dollars straight away.

If you like golf do the Taylor made experience. Group on used to have very cheap deals. We paid 100 for four people 9 holes, two buggy’s and some beers. Also top golf is okay but insanely expensive there.

Would recommend the pool parties for your son ha. MGM is just mad.

We used to do freemont to warm up, however it was a proper dive in 2017 (didnt go back last year) and there was about 3 casinos open and full of hobos.

I think they are planning/have built some new casinos down there by the Zipline - but I personally dont rate it down there.

obv depends where u staying but I loved having the car as gave me so many more options than being tied to just the strip! Driving there is piece of piss and free parking at Venetian/Palazzo or TI.
