Just something to consider... I’m not sure what type of electric bike you’re considering but most of them of VERY heavy (even with the battery disconnected) which means man handling them can be interesting into the space within the car. I personally would go the (removable) tow bar route with a decent bike carrier like the Thule VeloSpace XT 2 which even has an optional loading ramp to ease getting them onto/off the carrier and has the connections for the electrics and number plate etc. Then choose pretty much any car you want.

Electric bikes are heavy, it will be as much of an effort getting 2 of them in the back of a car as it would getting a tow bar and a decent carrier.

Won’t matter if the bikes get dirty if you get one of these.

I have (a similar, but fancier - it has 5 seats and I can cover the pickup bed if I want) one which I use for fishing trips...

I would get one of those fellers but Mrs H hates them, bit too "hillbilly".

She's a hard woman to please.

If you can wait until the end of the season, you may be able to pick up one of these quite cheap...
