My favourite Albion skipper. A real full-on blood and guts leader.
Met him in a Walsall hotel once, when he was Man. City boss. Think they were due to play Villa that evening.
Great bloke; had a good chat about the old days.
Happy Birthday, Brian.
Nothing wrong with 70 and at least you are about 6 months younger than me!

Many happy returns, Nobby Horton.

Got us going at Gillingham after a terrible first season there and is a relative of one of my sister's best friends.

Remember his first game at the Goldstone, I thought he looked like a criminal with short cut hair and stubble. which was totally at odds with the fashion at the time

Came on NSC to see if anyone had started a thread about our great Captain's birthday. Didn't realise it was his 70th today.

Also my mates birthday and the pair of us went to Hull away on the 4th February 1978, Boothferry Park. All Albion fans sang Happy Birthday to him. Much appreciated by the finest Captain we have ever had. 1-1 I believe it finished.

I remember that: a miserable. drizzly, misty day. Poskett scored IIRC but don't remember any rendition of Happy Birthday.

But what a player Nobby was - hope he has a great birthday

My favourite Albion player. In today's money he'd be worth £30m easy.

Pleased to see it's not just me.

A few of us used to have a cheeky pint with Graham Moseley and Gerry Ryan (they lived in our town).

They confirmed that our Brian and Jim Cannon absolutely HATED each other.

Does Gerry Ryan still run the Pub between HH and Ardingly ? Lindfield ?

The Witch at Lindfield. Sadly not.

He is not well at all. He has gone home to Dublin I believe.
