Good day to put a big score on, monumental error by Windies inserting us, think we will make them pay. 270/2
This is a reasonable prediction but Root and Bairstow will score a fair bit quicker than that. 364-2.

Brutal delivery from Joseph... Root fends off with his gloves... crazy catch... tipped up over the bar and then caught on the rebound... Root gone.

34-3

You cannot do a lot about a delivery like that

Looking like Root is becoming an average player with the bat now. Can't see us getting anything out of this game from a position of 34-3, could even sew the series up after only two Tests. Not looking good for the Ashes.

To soon to make that judgement. Fielding was the preferred option on this pitch and Windies won the toss. That Root delivery is showing, to me, an uneven pitch. It can only get worse over the course of the test. This could be a low scoring match all round.

17.4 Joseph to Bairstow, FOUR runs, short ball, clumped through the covers this time! Bairstow swats up and away in front of square, getting into his work now
17.3 Joseph to Bairstow, FOUR runs, full, in the slot, beautifully timed down the ground! Another boundary for Bairstow, stroking it cleanly through mid-on
16.6 Holder to Bairstow, FOUR runs, overpitched and YJB seizes on it, crrrrrrrruuuuuuuunches another straight drive through the V for four. Eventful over!
16.3 Holder to Bairstow, FOUR runs, short ball, nibbling away, he rides the bounce and blaps through point for four more! Bairstow throwing counters, with England on the ropes!
16.2 Holder to Bairstow, FOUR runs, full, that's a juicy drive ball, Bairstow smashes it back through mid-off! SHout of 'catch!' from Holder, but extra cover wasn't getting near it

Jonny Bairstow throwing caution to the wind

55-3 (18 overs)

JB 37* (46 balls, 7 fours)

Not sure why we bother with a top order.

Obviously a shame that we have got stuck in on such a surface - last thing we needed out there at the moment...

Much riding on this Bairstow/Stokes partnership.

4 more to JB.

Come on England...!!!

Jonny Bairstow 51* (59 balls, 9 fours, 1 six) :clap2:

England 71-4 (21.4 overs)

21.4 Gabriel to Bairstow, FOUR runs, full outside off, rifled on the drive through cover-point! An emphatic way to bring up your fifty!
21.3 Gabriel to Bairstow, FOUR runs, dug in, wide of the stumps and Bairstow hurls the bat, clears the leaping Holder at second slip! Deliberately done, I think
20.6 Holder to Bairstow, SIX runs, pitched up, and BOOM! Bairstow leans back and gives it some welly over extra cover! Outrageous shot, really, on the first morning of a Test in which your team has already lost four wickets... But my, he struck that sweetly!
