In a weekend where the FA Cup once again showed us the beauty of real football, the Peter Wild Oldham manager story must be one of the great news items of the cup this season, if not most seasons. I can remember quite a few miserable visits to Boundary Park in the 60s, 70s and 80s and boy was it cold.....even in April if I remember right? Don't think I ever saw us win there either?

It's a truly great story.

We shouldn't under estimate anyone we are drawn against tonight.........and I don't think we will.

I think l was probably in the away end at most of those games you mention, and yes, both freezing cold and winless too as l recall. Yes it was giantkilling straight from the David v. Goliath story, what with the penalty save, (which wasn't a penalty in the first place), and Peter Wild's 'dads dance'.

I remember the cold there but funnily enough it was also one of the hottest places I've ever been to. First game of the season, we won 3-1, but it was a hot August day, in 2003, and we were directly under a corrugated iron roof, which made it feel like being in an oven.

In an unrelated story except the Oldham part, someone said they sing:
Give me a T give me an I give me a T give me an S...
What do you do with them?
Oldham Oldham Oldham.

I went to that, too. Leon Knight a scorer? I seem to recall another visit there (I think it was another visit - all a blur now), this time I was behind a goal, and 'PB' who some of us know threw his phone on the track beside the pitch in a pique of fury then had to plead to get it back, and was later 'escorted from the stadium' :lolol:

I do hope we don't get Oldham away....

Leon Knight got two out of the three.

Yup, that was a scorcher. We debuted the yellow away kit with the black seagull embroidered on it, now actual club badge.

Didn’t a couple of our players have a ding dong about who the penalty taker should be? I’m sure Leon Knight was probably involved.

Darius Henderson, who scored the other goal of the three.

Hate em although with a declining passon. Went numerous times during the 80's don't think I ever saw us win. Highlight was a 6-1 loss in a blizzard followed by being chased all round the slum before we were finally so knackered that we stood our ground and they ran away, some of my mates were not so lucky...

Ah yes. it was 100 degrees at least in the away end that day.

Leon Knight and Darius Henderson. What a strike pair!
