I know we've touched upon this before a bit with "Three division Division", and a few of our more learned types have suggested that the points required to survive this season will be low due to the dominance of the top sides, but this diagram illustrates that in quite an interesting way:

Will always be this way as long as the champions league is the main prize. Six teams are building squads capable of competing in that league, and the best footballers want to play in that league, so there will never be an even playing ground. The only thing that could resolve it is a the top clubs joining a european super league, I'm a lot in favour of it for that reason
