After last nights confidence boosting win over Palace (woohoo!) in the cup, the Womens third home match in quick succession comes this Sunday at 2.30pm against Chelsea in the Womens Super League. Chelsea currently lie 4th and have won their last 4 matches so Albion will need to be at their best to get anything from this game.

As usual tickets are available from Seagulls Tickets until 3pm on Friday:
Adult: £7.00, 65+: £6.00, Under-21: £6.00, Under-18: £5.00, Under-10: £3.00

They are also available on the gate on Sunday for :
Adult: £10.00, 65+: £8.00, Under-21: £8.00, Under-18: £7.00, Under-10: £4.00

Free Bus Travel available from Seagull Travel
https://www.eventtravel-hub.co.uk/a...vel--sunday---home---1400-kick-off-2224-p.asp

Would be nice to get behind the team to give them lots of support and make sure Albion fans outnumber the Chelsea ones - not something that happens often when playing the bigger clubs.

Few articles about todays game:

Pay on the gate is available for todays match - kick off 2.30pm : https://www.brightonandhovealbion.com/news/2018/december/pay-on-the-gate-for-the-chelsea-match/

Preview of the match : https://www.brightonandhovealbion.c...lbion-women-vs-chelsea-fc-women-on-09-dec-18/

Prematch brief : https://www.brightonandhovealbion.com/news/2018/december/womens-pre-match-brief-albion-v-chelsea/

Preview from Chelsea FC : https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2018/12/9/women-s-preview--seeking-a-seventh?cardIndex=0-1

The Albion have played Chelsea twice this season already, unfortunately losing both games so we will need to be on top form this afternoon to get anything from this match.

Final Score 0-4 but the comment s on BB C Sport seems rather ironic.

'Chelsea were ruthless'
FT: Brighton 0-4 Chelsea

Sue Smith

Former England forward on the BBC Red Button

People will look at this scoreline and say 'Chelsea completely dominated the game' but it was only in the last 25 minutes that their quality shone through.

Chelsea are ruthless and when they see an opportunity, they take it.

They were clinical in front of goal and Brighton weren't. Brighton will reflect on the game and say they matched Chelsea for a long time.

Just back from the match. Thought we did very well until the first goal, and then let another one in in quick succession and it was all over really at that point. The final scoreline of 4-0 was quite harsh on us but their class told. Brazil, Umotong and Green did very well chasing up front and we had some half chances, but were always going to struggle against the current WSL holders with several english and other internationals in their squad.

Manager Powells view : https://www.brightonandhovealbion.com/news/2018/december/powell-they-showed-their-class/

With our relegation rivals Yeovil also losing today, we stay second from bottom in the league.

Should this item be in real soccer section, I am getting so frustrated in seeing items in newspapers,e/mails etc,etc indicating a football item concerning Man U, or The Albion then finding its a ladies
team item, Should you be interested then it would be preferable that a separate section be created to save time for those having an interest being able to pick up news that much quicker

Yes. The Women's team are part of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club and a lot of us are interested in them.

If this winds you up, the threads about Brexit, Snow and drone cameras must really be getting your goat...

Agree. Very much part of the club and IMO, far more relevant than a lot of the political discussion nonsense that goes round in circles in the main....

I think that the words 'Brighton Women' in the thread title might have provided you with a clue as to the content.

Albion's women are a club side, so it's perfectly reasonable for them to be mentioned on NSC just like it would be for reserve, youth, powerchair, etc.

A weekly email from Zeetha providing some information on the Albion women is hardly overkill. She's been perfectly transparent here.

And if you don't want to watch or follow, you don't have to.

That said, I hear what you're saying regarding the deliberate omission of 'women' from media headlines, specifically the BBC website.

It could be seen as a standard clickbait tactic for women’s football headlines which can be used as ‘evidence’ to claim wider public interest.

Misleading people into clicking on a story they have no interest in is not the way to grow the women's game.

There are more pressing issues at stake for the women's game, such as low attendances at matches.

For example, Manchester City were averaging crowds of 2,253 in 2016, but had only half that (1,157) in Sunday's match against Birmingham.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/37862713
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/46416249

Albion Women's game versus 3rd placed Chelsea, who boasted several internationals to draw the crowds, had 733 at the game.
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/46416245

It may well be better than it was at the season's start, but the numbers are still on a par with Tier 6 Men's football (National League North/South).

Attendances of 582 (Reading v Liverpool) and 516 (Yeovil v West Ham) reveal a minority sport at top-flight level despite extensive media coverage.

'They were clinical in front of goal and Brighton weren't.'

Heard that more than a few times with Albion teams.

Agree but a double edged sword. Because if we are going to take it seriously then the form of the team and the ability of the manager must be called into question. Hope Powell seems to be in Maybot mode after every game. Lots of positives etc etc...
