Voice of Mary, Mungo and Midge and also Teddy Edwards from my early childhood. Interesting to read in his BBC obituary that he found it difficult to fit in when he moved into a retirement home so he would cut out stories from the newspapers and then ready them to the other resident each evening.

One of my late fathers' special moments during his career in the Royal Marines was spending an evening in Mauritius next to Richard Baker at a function and chatting about classical music for the whole evening (Richard Baker used to introduce the Proms on BBC1). The photograph of the two of them together was always in a prominent position in the living room.

RIP

I didn't realise he was that old

When I saw the headline I was thinking of the other chap who used to do the Grand Prix & Tomorrow's World?
