Put a bet on at half time in Spartak Moscow v Rangers game. Spartak were 5 to 1 to win at half time, and the jocks being the jocks I thought it possible they could blow it. My bet would have netted me a £1000 profit. 2 quick goals in the second half has given me the opportunity to green up (which I have taken) - the question is should I have stuck it out for the grand profit?

At time of writing 4-3 to Spartak on 66 minutes.

Only trade out if you think the way you are going now is a good bet

What odds did you make Ranger/draw at the time you traded out?

I laid Spartak at 1.34.

If Spartak win I’m up £750 any other result I profit £700...

Should I have had the balls to hang out for the other £300? Only time will tell, and where’s Ernest?

Those numbers don't quite add up, if it was back at 6.00 and lay at 1.34 to an original £200 back, even if you had 0% commission on the lay.

Roughly 4 times out of five you'll never have the chance to trade out and will lose your initial £200.

Why when you get the one in five chance of being in a good position will you want to to give away £300 of your win?

Doesn't make sense to me unless you suddenly think Rangers are a good bet to win the game.

I lay £900 @ 1.34, which gives me a liability of £306, but winnings of £750 for Spartak win, and £695.28 for the other outcomes.

I know, that was my dilemma - do I risk losing my £200 stake against “losing” £300 of my winnings profit? I bottled it, but am guaranteed near £700 up...

I may just be having a shit maths day, but how does £1000 (bookie win) minus £306 (exchange liability) equal £750 for a Spartak win?

With the team you wanted to win being 4-3 up and at home, I would probably have layed to get my stake back then let the rest of it play out.

Yep, I considered that and think if the goals times had been further apart I probably would have done what you said, however I saw a very quick profit so bottled it :D
