Sir Stanley wouldn't have needed an assist - he could have scored a solo effort and been top himself!!

I’m not too sure that Sir Stanley, amazing as he was, was still playing in the top division at the age of 73 years and 57 days.

You could well be right that an older combo will have produced a goal in the pre Premier League era but I'm not sure full stats were kept on assists back then in the same way they are these days.
