[Football] Cabbage thrown at Steve Bruce

Police are working with Aston Villa to find a fan who threw a cabbage at the Championship club's boss Steve Bruce.

The vegetable did not hit Bruce, but he was angered by the incident before Tuesday's*3-3 home draw with Preston.

A West Midlands police spokesperson said: "A cabbage was thrown at the dugout from the stand. We are working with the club to identify the person."

That Villa were 2-0 at home to the league’s bottom side, and contrived to then concede 3, scrape back level, and then miss an injury time penalty was already pretty funny, regardless of the cabbage.

This. Tho fair play to the steward at Villa whose thorough body search technique intercepted an attempt to smuggle a lettuce into the stadium. A club spokesman said: 'We remain concerned. Although we are obviously pleased to have intercepted the leafy vegetable, that was only the tip of the iceberg'.

Typical..........................if it happened from the WSL, it would have been a lightly-tossed (and locally sourced) organic rocket, watercress and spinach salad, topped with some quinoa and goat's cheese and drizzled with herb-infused extra-virgin olive oil.

The flask brigade are sorted now. They can bring their hot beverage/wine to the ground inside a hollowed out cabbage and after consuming their half time drink there's the bonus of being able to luzz the used vegetable at the linesman/opposition manager/Locadia in disgust. Win win!
