So he's being called up because of his ethnicity?

This whole BAME movement is ridiculous. It doesn't matter if there are no black coaches within the England set up. What does matter is not selecting them because they are black. The best person for the job should be called up, no matter of their ethnicity. Activley seeking out black coaches to call out is the most racist part here.

Yes, it does look like a bit of tokenism. All positions should be filled by the best person for the job. However, he may be best qualified for the role and if we are going to have diversity at the top levels of the game they have got to start somewhere.

This views things rather one-dimensionally though. The FA might feel, in general, it’s better to have mixed representation. In this sense you can argue he is preferable to the other candidates who no-doubt have similar qualifications. I’ve always felt this about positive discrimination in the police force; society will surely feel better represented and served if the plod’s racial make-up reflects that or society

Is this a wind up? If not you’ve completely missed the point of this new initiative and it’s probably best not to comment further on it.

As Hughton said, this is great news for everyone, Paul Nevin, the club the FA, and most importantly BAME coaches.

If anyone really thinks that manager and coach appointments are even close to meritocratic, they are having a laugh. Jobs consistently go to all sorts of crap managers long after they have proven themselves incompetent, while many coaches (for a variety of reasons) spend their lives as number 2s / youth coaches without ever getting a chance even if they have proven themselves at that level. It doesn't seem too much of a stretch to suggest that one of these reasons might be someone's race.

Paul Nevin’s been part of the 5Live team this evening, discussing young player development with England, the Albion, and inclusivity of black coaches within the game, and other stuff.

A really interesting guy, full of praise for CH and said that he was impressed with everything about our club from the moment he joined. Saying we were unusual as a club, in that we were already up to speed on inclusivity.

Another tick for BHAFC.
