What are the "must have's", mine are:

Poppadoms with all the dips, especially Lime Pickle
Will often vary the main and side (Fav is Chicken Madras and Bombay Aloo)
Fried Rice is a must, as is an extra Garlic Naan

Neither here nor there
Sag aloo. Tend to always order prawn madras too despite brief flirtations with other stuff. We mix it all together anyway.

Chicken Tikka Madras is my current favourite dish, but my must have side is a cheese naan. If it is not cheesy enough I'm not happy. Don't just bring out a plain naan that has had a conversation with Mr Cheese, make the thing properly in the first place.

To be honest it's all about the starters:
sheekh kebab (affectionately known as the "cat poo")
onion bhajis
prawn puree
samosa
dosas
chicken and lamb tikka
popadoms
lots of dips

So many order a curry without the above and they're missing out.

I proper get stuck into the pappadums and the carousel. I like ALL the pots - lime pickle, onion, mint sauce and mango chutney. I paste all that shit all over my 'dums and crack on (literally). The only thing is, once I've had my starter on top of that (usually tandoori chicken on the bone), I'm absolutely stuffed when the main arrives, and end up taking most of it home with me.

But mein gott, those pappadums are the business at the start.

A masala dosa is a fantastic breakfast. Why don't any Indian restaurants in the Brighton area open for breakfast? (or do they?)

Cant be bothered with starters as I wouldn't eat the main so settle for King Prawn Jalfrezi with Mushroom Rice and Onion Bhaji. wife has poppadoms with pickle etc and Naan bread instead of rice but that is not for me.

only absolute must for me is the Naan. it is King of breads and something you can only get in the curry house, the accompliment they call naan in pub meals and supermarkets is just themed bread.
