I guess their excuse is that they're just emphasising how real the Salt Lake actually is. It's pretty big.

Who can't even be bothered to watch the Marlin's play baseball, with pretty much a Hispanic team.

Nobody is still outdoors in Miami to watch soccer.

It's business, I'm sure there has been a fortune spent creating the name of the " club ", the design of the kit and the "marketing" of the "club". Does not make it a club though.

There are plenty of reasons nobody watches the Marlins, mainly the constant trading away of their best players. But plenty of South American national teams play friendlies in Miami because of the large Latin population. I worked in the same building as the Brazilian consulate and it was the busiest office in the whole place.

I assume that would be the aim, as if successful they would become eligible to play in the CONCACAF Champions League

I'd say their starting date of 2020 is optimistic. The MLS season starts in March, which gives them just over 18 months to get approval and construction of a $1B stadium completed. Didn't work out too well for Spurs...............
