Let us suppose that you wanted to find out a little more about Ben Barclay, the development squad centre-back who made his first team debut against Southampton on Tuesday. Well, you could look up his Wikipedia page:-

Oh.

Well, you could check out his profile on the official site:-

Hmmmm.

But don't worry, as NSC has your back. You can now read up on Ben's Mancunian roots, his footballing history prior to joining Albion and his development over the last 5 full seasons in the youth system here. Just click and read ------------> U-23 Player Profile - Ben Barclay

And, in case you missed it last week, you can also read all about our U-23 right-back, Owen Moore ------------> U-23 Player Profile - Owen Moore

Further profiles will be added over the next few weeks.

Think it's great that he and, presumably White, are part of the first team. Going on loan definitely has its advantages but training everyday against Murray will also be a fantastic experience. People have criticised the U23 setup but having he, White, and Gyorkes in and around the team, as a Premier League team is surely a ringing endorsement that we're doing things right.
Also, he looks like he could be CH's (admittedly giant) son.

Many thanks for this...as one of the pieces says, if he can stay clear of injury he looks like he could be a real asset.

Technically his first team debut was against Southend in the Checkatrade Trophy as the football league designate those games as first team games.

Andre Wright for example played for West Brom in the Checkatrade Trophy, and also spent the first half of the 16/17 season on loan at Coventry. When they loaned him to Yeovil they had to cancel the loan as he wasn't allowed to represent more than 2 clubs in one season.

Utter nonsense really, but there's you go..

The NSC twitter account tweeted about my Ben Barclay article, and the NSC tweet was re-tweeted by......Ben Barclay. This makes me happy.

Bozza has already posted the news of Barclay's loan move today to League Two bottom side Notts County. For anyone who wishes to know a bit more about Mancunian Barclay (and for the hordes of Notts County supporters who are almost certainly paying a visit to the greatest fans' forum on the internet) you can read a profile here ----------> U-23 Player Profile - Ben Barclay

Sad news for the club. Another one leaves the BHAFC nest.

Good Luck Ben, look forward to watching you progress at another club.

I echo your good wishes but is it really bad news for the club? The U23s are basically “on trial” for their period at the club and if the club doesn’t feel they are up to it they move them on. Inevitably the occasional one might slip through the net but that’s the risk in trying to unearth a “gem”.

It’s interesting to note the level of clubs that our U23s are being loaned to. We’re hardly Chelsea are we!!

So we're not going to make a profit on him then? Or any money at all ......................

Seems an odd time to release him, with a new manager about to come in - I wonder when the decision was made, and who made it. Anyway, good luck to the lad - hope he gets a club for next season.

Surely we'd sell a player like this, for the most nominal fee, including a sell-on clause?! From what I've seen he doesn't look too far off a good player.
