What sort of crowds do these tournaments generate? Clearly there is a huge lack of interest in women's football in this country, as seen by the current attendances, but I wonder whether this will change with the hosting of an international tournament.

Edit: just noticed it's only part of a bid, not confirmed.

Interesting set of stadiums in the list, Bramall Lane being the largest, but also including the likes of Brentford's new ground, Peterborough, and Manchester City's Academy Stadium.

There has only been England international a home this year - at St Mary's - which 25,000 attended.

The one women's international that the Amex has hosted - England v Montenegro in 2014, for which the Albion got a fair whack of criticism for not advertising properly - got just under 9,000 in.

Women's football has really started to go places in recent years so I can see this attracting hood numbers.

Impressive. Why are the league attendances so low? The Albion have been really pushing the women's team for a while, so you would have thought they'd have been able to generate a bit more interest in it.

Football is in the blood and the majority of fans will already outlay a significant amount on time and money following their Mens team. The women's game needs to try and attract the new supporters and probably needs to be more focused at families etc.

Exactly this, the Women's game is growing year on year at a stunning rate! Almost 5,000 turned up to see United's women's team get stuffed in the cup against Reading, and attendances grow around 5% a year on average.

Currently interest in the club game is around the level of the bottom end of League Two but can see a team like Chelsea Ladies (who groundshare with AFC Wimbledon) outgrowing their flatmate's current (aware that moving back to Plough Lane will change things) attendance figures in five or so years.

What’s the quality like these days? Is it still a bit slow and with rubbish goalkeepers, or has that changed?

Perhaps the Albion should offer loyalty points for the Women's games. Do they?

No, they definitely shouldn’t. That would be ridiculous.

1. Have a look and see. (You will probably find sonething else to moan about though)
2. Why is it ridiculas? Loyalty points for supporting the club seems sensible to me.

1. No. I have no interest in it. And sorry, where have I been moaning!?

2. Because it’s not fair at all, people have busy lives and maybe some of us have better things to do than be complete football geek anorak weirdos and pay to watch all other forms of the sport as well. What’s next? Loyalty points for watching the under 8s?

Good point, but perhaps offer them for one-off games. See it as a positive discrimination exercise to change minds/attitudes towards another part of the professional game.

The women’s team is still BHA.
