Hey kids, this might surprise you.

Back in the good old days (©PPF) the league tables weren't produced until after 3, 4 or maybe even the first 5 games of the season.

Not only that but the promotion/relegation line didn't appear until the clocks went forward.

Why? 3rd 4th or 5th game's table are just as pointless as the first game's, so i don't understand your point.

I remember that and it was always the first thing to look forward to in a new season.

I still miss the Grandstand teleprinter.
But I don't miss the neverending rugby and racing results.
Oh and Tom & Jerry should always be on after the sport.

No idea but if us now old'uns wanted to know where the Albion were (after their mediocre start - the rosy specs aren't that rosy) we had to remember all the results for all the teams and attempt to work it out from there.


The days just flew by, and it was always sunny.

Ceefax on a Saturday afternoon. Can't remember the page numbers anymore though.

They have probably done it just to wind up Adrian Chiles.
