Ronaldo has got to a higher top speed than any other player in the world cup at age 33 (according to the Guardian today). So not showing any obvious signs of ageing.

Clearly age will catch up with everyone, but he is one of the new breed of super athletes and I’m going to guess he’ll still be one of the most dangerous players in the world at the world cup in Qatar.

Despite the longevity I think he'll have, I’m not sure he’s a great signing for Juve. They’ll probably have to sell off their younger, hungrier players to meet FFP, the bandwagon and one man teamism that comes with him, they will probably find deblilitating and it’s hard to see what they are thinking their next level is. So they won’t have the same challenge for Serie A after the great Napoli sell-off, they would have won the league for the next few years with or without him. His goals might get them another round or 2 in the Champions League .. but take them all the way? Improbable.

They bought him for £80 mill, had 9 years of success then sold him for a £25 mill profit. That must be right up there with one of the best bits of transfer business in football history.

Re Juve - it feels like there's a hint of ego from the board on this one, a hint of desperation that they're still in that super elite band of rich clubs (now consisting of just Man Utd, Man City, Barca, Real, PSG).
