Wow. Must be incredibly terrifying, almost 2 weeks in pitch darkness so far not knowing if anyone is coming. Water in (too much!) abundance to survive. 4 months worth of food being taken down and the boys learning to dive to get out, all at the beginning of Monsoon season. Epic effort good luck to everyone, has the potential for an epic ending and the obligatory movie.

Unbelievable and great to hear some good news for a change.
Hell of a logistical exercise to get them all out.

And unbelievably given where it is, they were found by British rescue divers. Not a job I would want !

New reports this morning saying it could potentially be FOUR MONTHS before they can get the kids out - not safe to get them to scuba dive out unless they are fully trained

The food and medical supplies are good, but they're in very damp conditions, so let's hope they can get them out before anyone starts deteriorating.
Water is being pumped out, but more rain is due tomorrow.
I really hope they can get everyone out alive and well.

Rainy season has started - it'll piss down pretty much every day until about the end of September, hence the reports of the rescue now potentially taking months.

Agreed – that length of absolute pitch blackness must have been mentally very tough to cope with, especially for kids. Added to the uncertainty of not knowing if anyone will ever come, or come in time.

A caving expert has just been on BBC Breakfast. There's an appeal out for small full face masks which would help youngsters to breathe normally. To get to the beach area from the outside and back out again takes three hours.
He said if it had happened here, they would have died of hypothermia by now.

In the film the trapped will be played by young US actors. The finding divers will be US SEALS.

Apart from this, good news so far.

And then, one of the SEALS will find the ENIGMA decoding machine, stop a terrorist (who is played by a British actor, say Ben Kingsley, the British are now the token Hollywood villains) assassinating Donald Trump, and find the Loch Ness monster keeping the kids in captivity. Lots of whooping and hollering and “we can do this” crap as Nessie is blown to pieces. Cut back to control room in Washington where there is more whooping and hollering and applauding as the Vice President, played by Morgan Freeman (for gravitas purposes) makes a speech about how U.S. special forces have saved the planet. A sub-story, meanwhile, is being played out as President Trump has been kidnapped by ladies from the Mexican W.I. And then . . .

I think I’ll lie down for a while. :drink:

Well, duh, yes, because it's colder in the UK. That's a pretty pointless comment really. And conversely they probably would have been able to get out sooner if it was here, as while we might get a flash flood that floods a cave system for a brief period, we don't get a 4-month monsoon season that would keep it flooded for weeks on end, even with pumping. Comparisons don't really add any value here.
