John has died at the age of 86 after battling an illness.

Always seemed to be the guest whenever we were playing Millwall whether home or away.

A man who immersed himself in Sussex football following retirement from the professional game, and a lovely man to chat to.

I was a young kid in those days, following The Albion, but only at a distance (newspapers and snippets from the radio - we didn't live near Brighton then, and I'm not from a football family) and I don't recall him at all. My apologies.
