Government officials have spoken to the Premier League and EFL about a review into all-seater stadiums being mandatory at the top of the English game, BBC Sport understands.

Safe-standing in the Premier League and Championship*will be debated in Parliament on 25 June.

A government source said the "time is right" to look at the issue."

Exciting times hopefully!

Certainly is. Another of Thatcher's obsessions to be over-turned; it was the wrong answer to 'the problem' at the time, and about time to kick the stupid idea of all seater stadiums, with no choice, into touch.

P.S. Yes, I know I myself need a seat these days, but I don't see any reason for denying other people the choice to stand (but I'd prefer it if they had a place to stand rather than possibly bang in front of me!)

Safe standing has to come in. It is so frustrating when people are jumping up in front of sitters, then take an age to sit again. All miss the action. I spent my youth standing on the east terrace at the Goldstone, and loved every minute of it (except when it p***ed down with rain). Best way to appreciate a game, and you can keep warmer moving around.

Article in the Argus is talking about safe standing without the need to install rail-seating, sounds like a shift in mentality. Not sure how it works without the rail seating.

If I get elected I'll do the same. My chance of being elected is about the same as Jeremy Corbyn's.

He will at least be in the race - and sometimes 100-1 shots do win. Especially when all the others shoot their own feet off

its a bold promise to make, about 8 months to enact legislation, assuming its top priority over other policies.

There is not a minority group that Corbyn will not promise the earth to, with almost zero chance of realistically delivering on his promises.

A liar, a charlatan, and a snake. The man has no spine or credibility.

£196 BILLION of extra debt in order to nationalise Railways, Electricity, Water and Post Office.
Welcome back to the 70s!

Why would I have a pop at Kinnock? I voted for him. The difference between socialist and Marxist/Leninist/Momentum.
