I've come back home.
Depends. Some players are not insured for certain injuries. These are normally ones that have the high likelihood of reoccurring and being sever or have happened a few times and is likely to happen again. Insurance companies are unlikely to insure in those circumstances especially if it could be career limiting or career ending.

The club will take the risk and manage the player or have to make a big call if they are buying them.

The PFA help players if they have a career ending injury, but they get nothing if it's an illness, eg John Piercy with colitis.

That’s very interesting, as a PFA member I had always assumed (incorrectly as it happens), that they benefited from the same privileges.
