The Leicester City belgian club, Leuven, has now won part 1 of the league to qualify for the end of season promotion play off.

Hopefully USG now go on to win part 2 of the league and meet them in that game.

The Leicester, Albion and Man City owners now have clubs in that division ( although I'm not sure whether any of those clubs are going up to the top league this season ).

Who needs 'B teams' in the EFL now ?

Some players in this year’s Union squad that might interest some:

Seb Poc

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sébastien_Pocognoli

After Webster & Clarke, another quality Portsmouth Centre back grabbed from their clutches.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Burgess

Where would any Belgium club be without a Chelsea U23 loan.

Pocognoli once did one of the craziest things I've ever seen on a football pitch while he played in England.

Unfortunately I have no memory of what it was but just trust me on that one.

Poc is a legend.

Great that he’s signed for USG.

Hope he’s on free-kicks......

1:14.

Apparently it was in Belgium. I was living with a Standard Liege fan at the time, also a stoner. I think we watched that "you got owned buddy" pet on back after the dribble a hundred times.

I rather miss the bit of interest we had on the side with USG when our little Percy was playing there. I know TB said when he bought the club it wouldn't be in any way linked with the Albion (and promptly loaned them Tau!), I'd quite like the idea of sending them the odd youngster on loan - once this bloody Covid thing is over anyway.

I don't really understand why we don't send them a collection of talent that we want to get first team opportunities but didn't manage to arrange a loan club for. If it could get them promoted we would then have a better place to send young prospects for game time. Hayden Roberts would benefit hugely from a year of regular games and it would develop his experience hugely

I think the club have shown they know when and where to arrange appropriate loans

Nobody's suggesting they don't - but as some on here said at the time, it made for a good weekend* to go and watch our Brighton player playing for USG - and probably would be again if we had one or two promising teenagers getting a bit of grown-up football out there.

*Including having a drink on the terraces while watching the game!

Maybe he is just really keen on avoiding any "conflicts of interests". Lets say they take Roberts on loan but two of their other centre backs turn out to be better. Then you get in a weird situation where the manager might think "shit, I need to suck the cock of my owner" and play the lesser player. Or you could have the player turn mad at Bloom for loaning him to a club where he doesnt get to play. Or the fans of USG might think there is some kind of unwarranted favourism towards Brighton players and get mad at Tony.

I can definitely see why he wants to keep the clubs seperate, maybe with the odd exception like Tau where it was quite obvious he would get quite a bit of play time.

Then I guess we'd have to ask the owner of USG to transfer one or both of them to Brighton, so I suppose that could be difficult if the owner wanted to play hardball ...........

...oh, hang on a minute .........
