A surprising promotion for them, given how weak they were in 2016/17.

Even more surprisingly, the three 2016/17 Championship relegated teams, have been promoted back to the Championship this season. That might be a first (and one for the Stattos to check).

How did he play?

He was solid imo but workmanlike rather than flash. Rotherham played very well. I was desperate for Shrewsbury to win for family reasons and moreover as they like us when we narrowly missed out, would have been promoted automatically with their points total in 11 of the last 16 seasons. To add further insult to injury, and this is where the playoffs penalise a team for n exceptional season, Shrewsbury played more games than ANY other team in the top 4 leagues. With a tiny squad that has got to take its toll.

Magic day. From the misery of last season - and much of the last decade, starting with administration and no ground - it feels like a rebirth.

Towell is settled in Sheff and there's a lot of mutual admiration between him and the fans but his wages are stratospheric for RUFC. Hopefully Albion will pay his wages next season as he's one of the better players in an essentially unspectacular team.
