This is a major achievement for Hughton. At Newcastle he didn't have the backing of the chairman, while at Norwich he battled against relegation for most of his two seasons before getting the chop despite Norwich being outside of the bottom 3.

This time he finally has a chairman and a squad of players who believe in him. He's now set fair to have a great 2018/19 season.

What brilliant news, he really is in my mind possibly our best ever manager.

Year one (half) saves us from relegation when we look a basket case

Year two (massive unbeaten run) miss out in play offs

Year three PROMOTION

Year four 15th in Premier League

Great news and well deserved. 1,3,5 year deal doesn't make much difference, as we all know what happens on a poor run. This deal shows that Chris and the board are happy to take the club forward for the near future.

Good reward for him but ultimately meaningless as any contact in football can be ignored/waived/paid off if there is a need or justification.
