Hope it's OK to share a link to a 7-minute YouTube video posted this afternoon about Brighton-based teams' great track record in American (and Canadian) sports.
I know several of these teams have been discussed a fair bit on NSC in the past:
BRIGHTON TIGERS: The top British ice hockey team for much of their 1935-1965 history. Their stadium was on West Street and they once famously beat the Soviet Union national team (then Olympic champions).
BRIGHTON BEARS: Basketball team that moved between Brighton and Worthing over the decades, but their final four years (when they were Brighton-based) saw them win the British league once and the cup twice, as well as signing Dennis Rodman.
BRIGHTON BUCCANEERS: Winners or runners-up of the British Baseball League six years out of seven from 1999-2005. Their baseball diamond at Waterhall was the best in the country and Team GB played their home internationals there.
BRIGHTON B52s: First British American football team to play a competitive game in the States.
